Nebraska Track and Field Athlete Wins Big Ten Championship

Meet Levi Gipson, the University of Nebraska, Track and Field athlete that’s found success surprisingly fast.

“Im surprised at fast he got to be at the level he’s at.” Said his high school coach Kurt Earl

Gipson was dominant in high school, competing in 3 state championships and bringing home plenty of hardware in the process.

“He’s a couple hundredths away, and one injury away from being a back-to-back state champion at the state meet,” says Earl.

Gipson has made an immediate impact at the University of Nebraska. After his impressive freshman campaign, Levi proved he had more in store for his sophomore year. His 1600 meter relay team, currently is in the top 5 nationally, and Levi won the 600 meter dash at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, earlier this year.

“I was kinda surprised at how well I did, and that’s just a blessing from God,” says Gipson.

Gipson has found his specialty in the 400 meter dash this outdoor season. He currently ranks 5th in the Big Ten.

“My goal is to run under 46 seconds, to remain nationally competitive,” Gipson added.

The season is winding down, and so is Levi’s 400 meter dash time. Gipson posted a mark of 46.44 seconds this season, and looks to continue his success.
