USF is Takin’ Care of Business

Story by Zachary Brown

USF’s Vucurevich School of Business is now offering a new and faster way of getting a business degree. It is called the 3 and 1 program. It allows students to get their bachelor’s degree in three years and their master’s degree in the fourth year. The program is offered to Accounting and Entrepreneurial Studies students.

The schedule of the 3 and 1 program is very similar to that of the regular program.

Dean of the Vucurevich School of Business Deb Sepich says it’s “absolutely all the same classes and all the same instructors.”

Accounting Professor Brad Van Kalsbeek says the schedule is very manageable, “It’s not like in that three years they are going to be taking overload, they will just be taking courses throughout the summer.”

To get in to the program you must be a very dedicated student. Sepich says the requirements to be enrolled out of high school include: a 3.4 GPA, a 25 ACT score, two letters of recommendation and an evaluation to determine writing skills.

The 3 and 1 program is unique to USF. It is very innovative and allows students to accelerate their college career.

Sepich says, “The ultimate goal is to get entrepreneurs who are really anxious to get out in the work force with their idea out a little bit early and to really have a program out there that they’re not spending as much money.”

The new 3 and 1 program will be made available in the Fall of 2016.
